I’m a builder. By age 10 I was building 7’ tall model rockets that required FAA clearance to launch (which I may or may not have actually gotten; I was 10; give me a break). By 14 I had discovered a passion for music and began putting together bands and writing music. None of it was very good at first, but I loved creating it all just the same.
Today, I still love to make things, and sometimes break them, but these days my medium for creation is the web, and I've loved every minute of it.
I am a self-taught front end developer, although it's hard to take credit for learning on my own when so many people build great resources to make it easy. I strive to write clean, semantic, and performant code and work on learning something new every day!
I really do love to create useful (and hopefully beautiful) things. There's no feeling like starting a new project or finishing up a current one.
On top of the fun of creation, nowhere else can one person have such an impact, whether it be within their own organization or around the world. WhatsApp just reached 900MM users and is run by 50 engineers for crying out loud! That’s 18 million users per engineer, and I think that’s pretty cool.
