I'm transitioning into software development from the audio post-production industry. For the past several months I've been working on Homebrew (http://brew.sh/), a popular open-source package manager.
I'd taken an intro class in C++ a couple years ago, but it wasn't till I completed the Rails web development curriculum with Bloc (https://www.bloc.io/) that things started to click.
I like the challenge that programming presents. When I encounter and solve a problem that initially seemed insurmountable, it's thriling. Also, the concept of open-source software has always appealed to me. I'm amazed by how many people in the software development community freely and happily share their code and knowledge.
