Cynthia Garcia
Full stack web designer and engineer
Full-stack web developer with science and education background. Earned a certificate from the University of Texas in full-stack development, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, and React.js. Adaptable and quick problem solving to prioritize UX/UI design based on team and client goals. Passionate about creating web applications with a focus on increased user accessibility. Collaborated with a small team to develop a MERN e-commerce site with user authentication, database management, and Redux state. I am excited to leverage my experience as a dedicated researcher and accomplished classroom instructor to build meaningful apps and technologies as part of an engineering team.
I learned to program as part of the University of Texas Coding Boot Camp in 2020. In six months, I became familiar with various web technologies: Command Line, Git, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap, Node.js, Express.js, SQL/NoSQL Databases, React, and more. My progress in the program in most starkly demonstrated in the three major projects assigned throughout the course. After being taught about front-end development, my first course project was a pure HTML and Vanilla JavaSript, choose-your-own-adventure game. The second project, after learning of servers and databases, was a blogging site with user authentication. By the end of the course, the third project incorporated my full knowledge into an e-commerce app managed on a Redux cart.
My favorite part of programming is the way you have to think. Every problem, every bug, is unique, but the solution is easily available - if only you can find it. Programming is a mix between laborious mental struggle for hours at a time to get a desired outcome or googling something and having a result within five minutes. This surprise and the level of focus coding requires allows me to stay engaged and never get bored.
