I have over two years experience as a web developer and currently working at Austin Community College in a part-time web developer role.
I sought after a large career change as I had worked my way up from mechanic to management roles in the automotive industry spanning over eight years. I completed an associate's degree in computer science from Austin Community College in 2016 while working two part-time jobs within the college. My skills include using HTML/CSS/JavaScript(ES6), CSS preprocessors, Node.js, Git, Vue.js, web components(Material Web Components and Stencil.js), WordPress development(themes and plugin) and VS Code as my editor of choice. I work with operating systems including macOS, Windows and multiple Linux distributions. My daily routine includes developing websites and applications, supporting multiple department websites, developing templates from my approved designs, documentation and testing in multiple browsers, team communication via Slack, and going above accessibility requirements.
Here are a few highlights of recent projects:
Recipient of Udacity's Google Developer Challenge Scholarship course in January 2018. Main topics included offline first with service workers, IndexedDB and caching, and ES6+.
Working as part of a team responsible for designing and developing multiple websites within a new division at Austin Community College and covering over eight departments and several offices within each. We worked on consolidating content with each office, designing templates and site development with high accessibility standards. The site overall is built using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The pages are broken up into templates using Nunjucks, and then compiled using Gulp tasks.
Contributing to our team's pattern library. It is our collection of web components to make developing pages and applications. Some of the tools we used include Stencil.js, Foundation, Babel, Gulp, and Webpack.
